WHAT HAPPENS WHEN I… EAT?
What Happens When I Eat? Another title from the "Inside my body" series, invites children to follow food on an incredible journey, from where it begins, to how it changes, to what happens inside the body after we eat.
Children explore where food comes from, how food can be grown or made, what happens when we chew and swallow, and how the body breaks food down so nutrients can travel through the blood and support growth, repair and energy.
The book also introduces the microbiome in a warm, child-friendly way, helping children understand that tiny helpers live inside the body and that different foods can do different jobs.
Rather than teaching food rules or using “good” and “bad” food language, this book supports curiosity, body awareness and self-literacy. Children are invited to notice how their bodies feel before, during and after eating, including hunger, fullness, energy and comfort.
Created with real photographic-style imagery and educational illustrative overlays, the visuals help make invisible body processes visible, supporting children to engage with digestion, body systems, food origins and internal signals in a clear and meaningful way.
